The Apollo AirVape XS came out a few years ago to some serious fanfare. At the time, the device was unmatched at its price point for portability, vapor quality and felt comfortable in everyone’s hand. The sibling of the AirVape XS, the X, features a larger chamber and a redesigned mouthpiece while still maintaining the same streamlined build that made the XS so popular. Do the upgrades justify the price of this vaporizer? Keep reading our AirVape X review and find out for yourself.

  • Ergonomic Design
  • Hybrid Heating
  • Precision Temp. Controls
  • Fast Charge Time
  • Highly Portable

How to use the AirVape X?

Just like the AirVape XS, the AirVape X is pretty easy to use. The mouthpiece of this vaporizer is connected magnetically, and the digital display is operated the same as its predecessor. The temperature is easily controlled with the buttons on the side, and turning it on is just a few button clicks away. When it’s heated up, the AirVape X will vibrate. Then, just take a rip and enjoy!

AirVape X Precision Temperature Control

The AirVape X vaporizer has a wide range of precision-controlled temperature settings, from 93°C – 220°C. This is a great feature of this vaporizer, especially because there are too many other vapes on the market today that simply don’t offer this kind of temperature flexibility. The AirVape X has a fast heat up time as well, about 20 seconds. This device operates about the same at most temperatures, so it’s entirely up to you and the way you like to vape.

AirVape X Hybrid Heating

The AirVape X uses a hybrid of both convection and conduction heating. The chamber is made from ceramic and you can pack 25 percent more than you could with the AirVape XS which is about 0.5 of a gram.

AirVape X Vapor Quality

The vapor production of the AirVape X is great, and you’ll have no problems getting some big clouds from the device. The flavor and smoothness is not bad, but it leaves a bit to be desired and was kind of a let down. This is especially true because there are devices like the Arizer Air SE that cost almost the same as the AirVape X but have much tastier flavor and smoothness.

While the AirVape X does have the ability to vape with concentrates with the included liquid pad, the vapor quality with concentrates is just average. If you’re not a big fan of vaping with dry herbs and prefer concentrates, you’re probably going to want to look at something like the Utillian 5 or the Dr. Dabber Switch

AirVape X Battery Life

We wouldn’t expect a unit this small to have a big battery life, so if that’s a concern of yours, you’ll likely want to choose a different vape. Most users get between 5 and 7 sessions out of a single charge. The battery of the AirVape X is 1300mAh which isn’t terrible, but you could certainly get a device for the same price that lasts longer. The pass through charging of this vaporizer does help with the battery life department.

Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality

The stainless steal build quality of the AirVape X is excellent, and is on par with industry leaders DaVinci Vaporizers in that department. Even though it is small, it seems to be pretty durable. The revamped mouthpiece is great and is a noticeable upgrade over the XS. The airflow box made from ceramic is also well-made and high quality. The device is rather uniquely shaped, but we think that is kind of cool.

The shell for the X makes it waterproof and allegedly odor free, but the latter part of that isn’t always entirely true according to some users. It comes in either blue or black.

Is the AirVape X portable?

Weighing in at only 3.2 ounces, and measuring only 0.48”, this vape is one of the slimmest, most portable devices on the market today. The unique design on this vaporizer could possibly reduce its discreetness, because it doesn’t look like most of your typical e-Cig devices. For a big boost to your dry herb vaporizer portability, consider buying a Tools420 Vape Case to help keep all of your vaping needs in one secure spot.

What’s in the AirVape X kit?

The AirVape X accessories are the USB charger, a tool for packing, a brush for cleaning, a screen set, a set of tweezers and a shell. The shell is the start of the show when it comes to the AirVape X accessories, because it makes the device waterproof. Just like all of the Apollo/AirVape products, the X comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

How to clean the AirVape X Vaporizer?

When it comes to AirVape X cleaning, it’s not that hard to do so with this device. Just take apart the mouthpiece and take an alcohol-soaked cotton swab to it. After that, give it a good rinse to make sure the gunk has been thoroughly removed. Be sure to remove the rubber gasket on the device before cleaning it with alcohol.

Summary and Comparison

The AirVape X vaporizer is one of the smallest, most portable vaporizers on the market, is really easy to use, has a wide range of precision-controlled temperatures, and a fast heat up time. However, the average battery life, coupled with the fact that other similarly priced vaporizers produce better vapor quality makes this vaporizer a bit of a disappointment compared to the XS.

The XMAX V3 Pro or the Utillian 722 have better vapor quality but cost basically the same.
