The CF portable vaporizer, manufactured by Boundless, offers a top-shelf hybrid-heating element that gives you thick, delicious vapor clouds from either dry herb or concentrates. The battery life and the size of the bowl both compete with most of its kind on the market today. If you’re in the market for a portable vaporizer that fits in your pocket, heats up quickly and can vape either extracts or dry herbs without spending an arm and a leg, there’s a good chance that the CF from Boundless is for you.

Now that a few years have passed, how does the Boundless CF in 2020 stand up to the competition? We’ll go over that in a quick moment!

Boundless CF Impressive Internal Components, Sleek Exterior

The Boundless CF has a battery that is a workhorse. You will get at least a dozen five minute sessions with each charge. The Boundless takes about 25 seconds to heat up, and you’re ready to go – sometimes even under 20 seconds. The 80W Boundless CF boasts a very quick heat up time is hard to match. This unit has a total re-charging time of three hours using the included USB charger.

Because the Boundless is so powerful, it’s a bit more thick and wide than some of the real small portable vaporizers on the market today. There is a small chance that this fact decreases the discreetness of the portable vaporizer, if being discreet is of the utmost importance to you. Despite this, you will have absolutely no problem fitting the Boundless CF into any one of your pockets. The ceramic heating chamber is very high quality, giving you thick and tasty vapor clouds with each session.

User-Friendly Functionality

The Boundless CF portable vaporizer uses an interface that is activated by pressing a single button. All you have to do is screw off the top and lift, load up whatever you’re toking on, and press the single button quickly five times.

Once the device is powered up, decide on your desired temperature by cycling through hitting the power button two times. The Boundless CF has five temperature settings that range from 179 degrees Celsius to 212 degrees Celsius.

The temperature settings go up or down at 15-degree increments. LED lights will blink, as the device heats up, and then will remain solid when ready for use. Within 20-25 seconds, you’re good to go. The CF’s silicon-coated exterior ensures you that your vape never gets too hot while you’re in mid-session. Even in the current year, the CF is clearly a solid performer, however beaten out by units like the Utillian 722.

2020 review update notes:

Even in 2020 the Boundless still stands up with its ease of use and quality results. Not much has changed in the past few years regarding how dry herb vapes work.

Our only gripe with using the Boundless CF is that little crumbs of herb get stuck between the loading chamber and the body of the unit – keep a cleaning brush handy to keep your unit nice and tidy. The Utillian 722 mentioned above doesn’t suffer from this issue.

Hybrid Heating for the Win

If you love vaporizers as much as we do, by now you understand how hybrid heating is superior in just about every way. The Boundless uses a combination of conduction and convection heating, which evenly distributes the hot air to your dry herbs or concentrates, vaping everything evenly with each session. Other vapes that use hybrid heating include the Crafty+ and Utillian 722.

When you use conduction heating, you blast your dry herbs or concentrates, and run the risk of heating up your product too quickly, reducing the amount of hits you get per session, and even sometimes resulting in tokes which taste too roasted. With convection heating, you don’t have these issues of blasting the product too quickly, but you might not get that deep, full-bodied toke that so many of us vape lovers crave.

Hybrid heating like the Boundless CF uses will combine the strengths of convection and conduction heating and eliminate most of the weaknesses – resulting in smooth, appetizing vapor every time you reach for your vape.

The airflow is relatively open and smooth which is nice as it doesn’t feel like you’re trying to inhale from an impossibly thick milkshake. In addition to that, the CF’s airflow path is completely separated from any of the electronic components, preventing offgassing and adulterants from being present in your htis.

We found packing the chamber all the way with freshly ground herb  to be the best – it doesn’t quite work so well with whole nugs or too tight of a pack.

Also Available From Boundless

The CF heats up using one of five different temperatures, going up or down at 15-degree increments. For the vast majority of vape users, this is more than enough. However, there are some connoisseurs out there who seek out more precision temperature control and a larger option when it comes to heat choices. If you fall into the latter category, consider the    from Boundless, which is basically the CF’s bigger, even stronger older sibling.

The big brother to the CF, the CFX Vaporizer is larger than its CF counterpart and has an LCD screen that shows you your current temperature and a unique cool-down thermometer. The CFX can also vape concentrates using the concentrate pod and be used portably, but we recommend using it primarily at home, because it is larger than most portable vaporizers.

Bottom Line

2020 review update: The Boundless CF is still a solid performer however beaten out by more modern units like the Utillian 620 in a head to head comparison.

If you find a Boundless CF at a low cost then we’d say hop on it – it’s still an excellent beginners unit however we much prefer units like the Utillian 722 or Crafty+ for their vapor quality.

With the Boundless CF portable vaporizer you get quick heat up time, a nice large bowl, high quality heating element, strong battery and the ability to vape either dry herbs or concentrates. Newbies and vape connoisseurs alike will be impressed with how solid the vapor quality is with this device. It works flawlessly almost every time, it looks slick and fits well in the palm of most people’s hands.

The Boundless CF comes with a 3-year warranty from the manufacturer that guarantees replacement in the event of any defects, and also the battery comes with a 1-year warranty. Throw all that in together for under $200, and it becomes a great choice for both newbie and veteran vape lovers.

As you can clearly see, at this great price, with all of these incredible features, there are very few drawbacks when purchasing the Boundless CF portable vaporizer. Whether you’re just getting into the portable vaporizer scene, or you’ve purchased a new vape every few months since the first one came on the market, the Boundless CF is a quality decision for anyone.
