G-Pen Pro Vaporizer Review
The G Pen Pro, made by Grenco Science, is an entry-level portable vaporizer for dry herbs. It is compact, lightweight, discreet and affordable at around $140 CND. Because of its rather basic, straightforward design and operation, the G Pen Pro could be a decent choice for the beginner vaporizer or for the more experienced user. What are its strengths and weaknesses? Is it the vaporizer for you? Read on to find out more.
Battery on the G Pen Pro
The battery on this device is internal and is made o f high quality lithium ion. The battery clocks in at 1300 mAh and 4.0V. It will take you about three hours to fully charge when using the USB, and using a regular outlet charger takes around two hours. Most users get about 40 minutes of continuous usage from the G Pen Pro, depending on what temperature you are vaping at. This battery life isn’t the best on the market by any stretch of the means, but could be worse for what the device is. There are LED’s in the center of the device, four to be exact, that will let you know what temperature you’re at and how much battery life the device has left in it. With all four lights activated, you are at a full charge. When there only one or two of the LED’s light up, it’s time to put the G Pen Pro back on the charger.
Using the G Pen Pro
The G Pen Pro only comes with three present temperature options – 190 degrees Celsius (375 degrees Fahrenheit, Blue), 204 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit, Green), and 220 degrees Celsius (428 degrees Fahrenheit, Red). Even though there are only three temperature settings, at least the interval differences are far enough apart to mean that your hits at each of the three temperatures are all of noticeable variances. The unit will indicate which of the three temperatures the device is at with the LED lights – blue, green or red, respectively. You control the device by pressing the one and only button repeatedly five times to turn on and off. If you want to select a different temperature, press and hold the button. The G Pen Pro heats up in about 30 seconds, which again, isn’t the best, but isn’t the worst. This device only fits about 0.2 grams, which is fine for some users, but those who want longer sessions will find it rather lacking. The heating chamber is made from ceramic and is 360 degrees, which isn’t an uncommon feature, but does add a bit of value to the device.
The one area where the G Pen Pro really does shine is when it comes to portability and relative discreetness. Because the dimensions on this unit are 4.5″ x 1″ x 1″, it is pretty easy to conceal, and can be transported with no issues. The fact that is all black also helps to conceal your vaping. This is especially true if you vape using the lowest possible temperature setting and take small rips. Taking low and slow rips only will mean that people seeing what you exhale will be next to impossible, adding to its discreetness. The aluminum finish on this unit means that it will hold up well when you take it along with you when you’re out and about. Stashing it inside of a bag, purse or a pocket is no issue either.
Vapor Quality of the G Pen Pro
With most conduction heating vaporizers, we recommend grinding down your dry herbs as finely as they can possibly be, and the G Pen Pro is certainly no different in this regard. Grinding your dry herbs will help keep it as fine as possible and give you the best possible chance to enjoy a decent vape session. The mouthpiece is made from rubber, which could be better, but at least it isn’t plastic.
The original G Pen didn’t have good vapor quality, and the G Pen Pro does improve in that area in comparison to the older model. If you make sure your herbs are finely ground, and keep your vape sessions low and slow with the G Pen Pro, you should be able to get some decently tasty vape hits. However, after the first few hits, the vapor can get quite warm, and will be downright harsh after a hit or two if you’re using the highest temperature setting. Grenco isn’t widely known for having the best vapor quality, but with the affordable price tag of around $140 CND, you really shouldn’t be expecting all that much.
What Comes With the G Pen Pro?
Just like the features, operation, and vapor quality on the G Pen Pro are basic and about average, so are the accessories that come with the device. When you open the box, you’ll obviously get the G Pen Pro, the portable vaporizer itself and the USB charger cable. In addition, the device comes with a brush for cleaning purposes a decent packing tool, and a 4 piece grinder if you place your order with us.
