Is the Storz and Bickel Crafty Plus worth it?
At face value, the Crafty Plus Vaporizer is just the smaller version of the Mighty Plus with less battery life and user interface – But is it still considered one of the best portable dry herb vaporizers?
With the recent upgrades including a new ceramic-lined chamber, updated app, super boost temperatures & more, there is a whole lot to love about its lower price compared to the Mighty.
In this Crafty+ Vaporizer review, we’ll be going over these key features and comparing them to similar devices to help you decide whether it’s worth the upgrade or not. Whether you’re looking to Buy Crafty Plus or just want to learn more, let’s see how it measures up.
About the Reviewer
Here at Tools420, we’ve carried every vaporizer that Storz & Bickel has ever released. With our customer-first approach, we personally test every vaporizer we review and sell — and the Crafty+ is no exception.
As authorized Storz & Bickel retailers, it’s our job to give you the most accurate and up-to-date information about the Crafty+ so you can choose a vaporizer you’ll truly enjoy.
If you have any questions about the Crafty+, feel free to leave a comment or use our live chat feature — we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Hybrid Heating
The Crafty+ uses the same hybrid heating system as the Mighty+ and previous models use – It will heat the ceramic-lined chamber in combination with the jet of hot air intake coming from the bottom of the vaporizer.
As a rule of thumb, a hybrid-heated dry herb vaporizer creates more of an even cannabis roast and overall better THC extraction than devices that only use a conduction heating element.
On the Crafty by Storz and Bickel itself, there is a temperature range of 104-410°F / 40-210°C which can be fully accessed with the crafty web app. These Crafty+ temperature settings let you fine-tune your sessions for smooth flavor at lower temps or bigger clouds at higher temps.
While using the app, you’ll be able to set the first two pre-set temperatures, and the third pre-set will always be the maximum temperature of 210C/410F. While you’ll have access to a big temperature range, overall it doesn’t compare to how easy the Mighty+ is to use thanks to its HD screen and precision temperature control.

Incredible Portability
- One of the best pros is its small design which comes in at only 4.4in x 1.3in.
You’ll have zero problems getting it into almost any pocket or small bag & since the chamber is funneled and the kit comes with a brush, it’s also super portable and easy to use on the go.
For heavy users, we still recommend picking up a Tools420 Vape Case to help keep everything you need in one convenient spot – For example, a USB-C bank that would allow you to charge your Crafty while out on a hike.
A Capsule Caddy Keychain will also let you really boost portability as it will let you carry up to four pre-loaded Crafty Dosing Capsules on your keychain. This would allow you to easily store up to four 0.25g doses for a total of 1g of easy 420 storage, plus it costs just a few dollars.
If you haven’t picked up what I’m trying to say here, it’s that this is a super portable device that you can take with yourself anywhere for easy and amazing sessions!
Since it almost fits into the palm of the hand, you can basically only have the straw mouthpiece visible. With hybrid heating, your vapor won’t have as much smell to it, but just know that the blue and green lights are super visible and eye-catching at night.

Smooth Vapor Quality
Although the Crafty+ is much smaller than other top-tier dry herb vapes, it is not lacking in vapor quality category thanks to an isolated air path, ceramic-lined chamber, and hybrid heating.

Out of the box, the three preset temperatures are set as follows:
- 1. 356F / 180C – Stock primary temperature
- 2. 383F / 195C – First Superboost temperature (two clicks of power button)
- 3. 410F/ 210C – Second Superboost tempetature (three clicks of power button)
To summarize these, the first is good for flavor, the second for a good mixture of flavor and cloud production, and the last is quite harsh but will give you the biggest clouds.
The airflow is super easy, and you won’t have any kind of draw resistance during inhales. While the plastic straw mouthpiece is personally a bit of a drawback, you can upgrade to a Crafty Glass Mouthpiece which will give you that fully unimpeded terpene profile vapor quality.
Compared to this, newer devices like the Utillian 850 focus on combining strong airflow with advanced dual-core hybrid heating and a refined vapor path design. This helps deliver denser vapor while still keeping the inhale smooth and consistent across longer sessions.
Tips and Tricks
Like the Mighty+, the heater will work super hard to get back up to your set temperature meaning you’ll be able to take hits back to back. Because the airflow is excellent, long and slow draws will add a lot of convection temperature boosting and THC extraction, so we can highly recommend that method for the best vapor quality.
Our personal favorite setup would be to use the Crafty+ Vaporizer with the Crafty+ Water Pipe Adapter for use with the fan-favorite 14mm whip bubbler which will let you place the vape on the top and then hit through the bong’s silicone hose and a glass mouthpiece. It’s a super awesome setup that will let you take bigger hits and add a lot of creativity to your sessions!

Another easy setup is the Crafty Short Bubbler Mouthpiece
Crafty Plus Battery Life Review
People have mixed feelings about the Crafty+ 45-minute battery life.
While the version has an upgrade to USB-C charging which has brought the unit into modern times, the overall short battery life is a big hindrance.
You’ll be able to get an hour maximum, and use with only higher temperatures will bring it down to 45 minutes total. For most users, this will mean about four to eight sessions per charge, which is a bit on the lighter side compared to other premium devices. The battery also drains quickly, especially with frequent use, which can be frustrating for those who rely on multiple sessions throughout the day.

USB-C Charging
While you’ll be able to have pass-through charging with a USB-C after twenty minutes of charging, it’s not the optimal setup compared to a swappable battery that something like the new Arizer Air Max has.
- The Crafty+ only has one side column containing a single 2800mAh lithium-ion battery whereas the Mighty+ has two lithium-ion batteries on its side, making for twice the battery life.

How to use the Crafty Plus Vaporizer?
- To use the Crafty Plus, you’ll start by twisting off the cooling chamber (mouthpiece) counterclockwise to expose the ceramic 0.3g chamber.
- Using either a filled dosing capsule or by manually pinching in your finely ground dry herb, if you miss anything just use the included brush to knock off any unwanted debris.
- After, screw the mouthpiece back on and then press and hold the power button until the light at the bottom begins to glow red.
- Once it’s reached temperature, the Crafty+ will vibrate, and the light will turn green to let you know that it’s reached temperature.
- To activate the second preset temperature, double-tap the power button, or triple-tap to go to the highest temperature.
- There is a 45-second auto-off timer, but this can be kept going by tapping the power button every so often.
- Once your vapor quality begins to decline or you begin to taste burning, you can power off the vape by again holding the power button down.
The lights system is a bit confusing when you first start using the Crafty+ as for example, when you’re powering the vape off, the rate at which it pulses a blue light flashing is the indication of the battery meter, with fast flashing meaning a low battery indication. For medicinal users, this won’t be the most straightforward dry herb vape to use when compared to something like the Mighty+.

Crafty Plus Build Quality Review
The PEEK body is a terrific choice, and we can understand why they haven’t moved away from it. While aluminum or an alloy body would be nice, the lightweight and durable shell holds up. It has excellent cooling, great durability, and a stealthy look.
In future editions though, we’d still prefer an all-glass or ceramic vapor path to preserve the flavor of your herb, if you prefer though, you can replace the mouthpiece tip with a crafty glass mouthpiece.
The main thing to replace over time will be the blue O-Ring around the chamber, which can be replaced in the Crafty Seal Ring Set.

How to clean the Crafty+?
With the upgraded ceramic bowl, cleaning is a lot easier, as all you really need to do is knock out your AVB (Already Vaped Bud) after every session using the included brush. When resin buildup occurs, a simple vape alcohol wipe will usually do the trick. However, cleaning it can still be a bit of a pain—especially if you don’t stay on top of it regularly, as buildup can begin to affect the airflow and overall vapor quality.
If you’re a heavy user and start noticing reduced airflow, you can soak the entire cooling unit (excluding the rubber O-rings) in ethyl alcohol for 30 minutes, followed by a rinse with hot water. To access the internals of the Crafty Cooling Unit, push the cap toward the mouthpiece and pull it off. Then, wiggle off the straw and cap lock, and remove any O-rings. For best results, heavy users should aim to do a full cleaning like this about once a month to maintain good airflow and performance.

Warranty
As another plus for the Crafty+, it does come with a 2-year warranty, extendable to three years with the registration slip included in the box. This will cover against any manufacturer’s defects, but just know that you may have to pay for shipping for any repairs to Storz & Bickel.
Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| More powerful heater, decent heat-up time | Poor temperature control options |
| Improved battery life and USB-C charging | Non-removable battery |
| Same form factor and size | Expensive |
| Top-notch vapor quality | Fewer things included in the box |
Our Critiques
With the Crafty+ mouthpiece, you’re going to run into a lot of maintenance problems! As there is a huge gap outside of the ceramic oven, you’re going to get a ton of debris buildup that is hard to reach and will cook onto the plastic over time with sessions unless your remove it with a dab tool.

Another problem with the Crafty+ mouthpiece is that there are just too many parts. Including the O-Rings and locking mechanism, there are a total of seven parts which makes it annoying to disassemble for cleaning purposes.
Especially when compared to the similarly designed Utillian 723 that only uses three parts, you can see just how badly designed the Crafty+ cooling unit is.
As you can see below, the inside of the mouthpiece is full of tough-to-reach nooks and crannies that are going to be super time-consuming to get rid of all the residue buildup. What makes it worse is that if you don’t clean this residue, it can lead to a burnt taste while you’re using the Crafty!

Another common complaint about the Crafty+ is that the THC extraction is simply not up to par. In other words, it will stop producing vapor from your dry herb much sooner than other vaporizers on the market.
Compared to another premium device, the Zeus Arc GT3, you can see the difference in the AVB (Already Vaped Bud) to see just how inefficient the oven is at extraction. Over time, this will lead to you having to buy much more cannabis to keep up with better devices!

Final thoughts
We’re a bit torn in this Crafty Plus review—while the Crafty+ does feature significant improvements in battery life and heat-up time, the slight boost in performance and temperature control isn’t a game-changer. The new Storz & Bickel design feels slightly better, but overall, you’re not missing out on much. So, would we recommend it? It’s hard to say.
The new Storz and Bickel body design looks and feels a bit better, but it’s roughly the same all around and you’re not missing out on much. It’s hard to say whether we recommend it or not.
- It’s definitely better than the original Crafty, but not quite the upgrade we were dying to see.
With that being said, we find it to be a perfect replacement for the OG Mighty for those that don’t want to spend the money on the Mighty Plus. If you’re looking for a top-notch portable herb vape and have the money, then go for it! If you’re in the market for a high-quality portable herb vape and are ready to Buy Crafty Plus, it’s definitely a top contender!
While the Crafty+ might be a goofy Portable Vaporizer at first glance, it definitely packs a nice little punch once you figure out how to use it. While there are some weird quirks like how rapidly the light flashes to express battery life, the vapor quality is just fine if you put in the time on its learning curve. My personal favorite setup with the Crafty+ is a fully loaded bowl with medium grind, and then using the Crafty Short Bubbler around the 180°C / 356°F temperature mark.

Because I did buy a Crafty + by Storz and Bickel, that was my worst purchase during my lifetime. It’s not satisfying, there’s really no support whether it’s the store I bought it from, or from the manufacturer themselves Storz and Bickel and only caused so much lost TIME IN OUR LIVES BECAUSE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE PROPER SUPPORT. THIS ITEM TO ME SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SOLD OR PUT ON STORE S SHELVES, NOT FOR $300 OR EVEN $50.00
IN FACT I WOULDN’T TAKE IT IF WAS GIVEN TO ME FREE OF CHARGE! AND ALL THE VIDEOS AREN’T OF ANY HELP AT ALL.
Thanks tools420, fast delivery, crafty + is great.
I have got much cⅼear idea about from this post.
Horrible battery life on Crafty+… great quality vape. 3/5 stars because of the battery life. Cleaning is not so bad.
Was a hard decision between the Crafty + vs Crafty but I think it’ worth it to get this one. The battery life is good, the app has a lot of control but the hits are UNREAL! Big bowl too I stuff like 0.3g in there and that’s honestly good enough for 3 sessions. Haven’t tried the capsules yet but I’ll give em a go soon enough.
Hi, thanks for replying! I’ll run a few more tests with my brand new Crafty+ to see how the battery is lasting before a Initiate an RMA. Brazil has very complicated customs and I’m afraid that If I have to send my Crafty for repair, when S&B sends it back to me, considering they will ship to Brazil, even though I bought my Crafty in Portugal directly from them, that it could take weeks or months for it to get to my hands. There’s a chance that it could be taxed by customs, 50% over retail price, cause it’s imported item, and even if S&B send it as an RMA repaired product, you can’t trust Brazilian customs, they could tax it if the want to, or send it back to Germany, cause there’s no regulation in Brazil for e-cigarretes e vaporisers and they are considered forbidden items for sale here and still we have many online stores that sells vaporisers and e-cigs. It’s a grey zone, so it’s a very complicated situation to deal with customs in this regard and I would like to avoid it if possible. But if my Crafty is really defective, I’ll have to deal with RMA and cross my fingers.
I’ve just charged my Crafty+ using my OG Crafty wall plug charger instead of the USB connected to a laptop. I’m using a timer to have an exact idea of how long my battery will last til it dies on me so I know precisely how many minutes it’s lasting with a full charge. Do you know if having bluetooth set to permanently on has anything to with its battery draining too fast? Anyway, I’ll let the battery drain completely like you said and recharge again and see if it helps. But one thing that I found strange is that sometimes using the iPhone App I see the battery display displaying 2 boxes ( 20%) and suddenly the Crafty+ dies and needs charging? Isn’t that a sign that the battery has issues or is leaking? Thanks for helping out!!
It’s still a good idea to contact S&B for trouble shooting advise before going through the process of RMA.
If the bluetooth is set to permanently then yes the device will always be searching to connect to a Bluetooth device and that does take a % of battery.
It’s hard to say if it’s the battery or the app showing incorrect battery life. We had that issue ourselves once where the app was showing more battery but the device was drained. We had to disconnect and connect to the app for it to reset. I think with apple banning vaping apps there won’t be any updates available for the iOS app and people may run into compatibility issues with new vaporizers. Try S&B’s new web app (link above). Let us know about your findings.
I’ve been unlucky I guess. I just recently bought a Crafty + directly from Storz n’ Bickle website and the battery is worst than the original Crafty I had bought in 2016 and that it died on me last year. With the original Crafty I could get at least 3-4 sessions, around 45 minutes. With the Crafty + I was expecting at least 70-80 minutes but I not been able to get past 3 sessions with a fully charge battery. I think it’s not lasting more than 40 minutes. I think that maybe I have a faulty version and it’s brand new, only 6 hours of operation. It’s been less than a month I bought it while I was in Europe travelling. I live in Brazil and unfortunately a RMA process is very complicated for me cause Storz n Bickle won’t ship to Brazil I think. I’ve also noticed that my new Crafty + vaporizer always dies on me everytime I still have 20% of battery left when looking at my iPhone Storz n Bickle App battery display. It sure looks like a battery leak, or something related to a faulty battery. It really sucks!!!!
Hi Franco, we’re sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your Crafty +. Even though you are located in Brazil and the RMA seem complicated, we still recommend contacting S&B for a second opinion, if they ship to Brazil then they most likely have a support team for that region. We’ve recently found out some issues can be resolved by simply draining the battery completely and recharging the unit. It resets the system and the unit will function perfectly fine.
Looks weird power tool like my dad gave it to me but its really light and small and doesn’t overheat and hits really hard. Taste is really good clouds are thick overall really good vape 10/10
Ah memories of my first joints come rushing back since this vaporizer gets me extremely high. The bowl accommodates a lot of weed so for heavy users like me its quite a good thing. I’d normally smoke a gram joint but now I only use like 0.3 grams to get the same amount of high AND I can eat the vaped weed after which gets me super high. Would recommend
A+++++ shipping speed customer support was very friendly at helping solve a problem and were kind enough to include a free gift with my order. Great experience, will update the review once I try my shiny new crafty plus!
Was really hard to clean my Crafty plus vape but I figured it out and after like 3 months of using it it’s like back to new again! hits are great battery life is alright and its really small. Interesting design but I like it and its surprisingly light!
Yo imma be REAL I scraped together coins for mad time before I could afford myself a present and thinkin yah im going to spoil myself because I smoke kush a lot and need a heavy hitter. Ppl on reddit and stuff told me to get this vape and at first I was really cheesin bcuz I couldn’t even get a hit from it. Had the mouthpiece on sideways LMFAO put it it on normally and didn’t even get high for 10 minutes. 10 minutes later I was so freaking high like my first ever bong rips wtf this witchcraft shud b illegal lmfao arrest the makers. 100% worth gets me lit AF Sour Diesel all day
I’m a medical marijuana user and people all over Reddit were saying to get the Mighty vaporizer but I went for the Crafty+ which I find to perform really amazing! I use the dosing capsules and load up 40 at a time with the dosing capsule filler which I find to really be the amazing part of this vape.
Since I vaporizer throughout the day I needed a device that was easy to load and reliable and the dosing capsules made that perfect. Now, the battery life is on the okay side but I can get through a whole day of vaping 5 minutes each around 7 times a day before needing to fill it up again.
If I would make any changes I’d request a removable battery or even 2 batteries. Fine product though as we all know those pesky Germans make a mean product!
