Is the POTV One worth it?
The POTV ONE is a Weed Vaporizer that is the first release from the Planet of the Vapes and was recently updated to include an upgraded stock mouthpiece, as well as four aftermarket mouthpiece upgrades available to choose from.
The POTV ONE dry herb vape features some similarities with its siblings, the Utillian 620 and Healthy Rips Fury 2, like glass mouthpiece options, haptic feedback, but has a bit of a different build style.
- But as one of the most popular cheap vapes, is the ONE from Planet Vapes different from the pack?
Let’s get into our Planet of the Vape One review, and you can decide for yourself if it ranks as one of the best budget dry herb vaporizers or not!

What’s in the kit?
In addition to the Vape ONE device itself, a dry herb dosing capsule, a wax liquid pad, a glass mouthpiece, a micro-USB charging cable, a stir tool, a cleaning brush, tweezers, and a spare gasket and screen.
You also get a 2-year warranty, which is pretty solid. Most ONE owners don’t seem to have had any problems with the Planet of the Vapes brand when it comes to honoring their warranty and getting replacements.
The Planet Vapes brand also generously includes a free glass accessory. You can choose from a mini or bent mini mouthpiece made from glass, a water pipe adapter, or a standard bent mouthpiece. You can also purchase all of these as optional accessories, for an additional fee, of course.

How to get the POTV One Setup out of the box?
Out of the box, you’ll want to fully charge your POTV One to get the most out of its lithium-ion battery.
After that, you’ll be able to run two burn-off cycles for sanitation. To do this, press the power button three and use the up arrow to get it to the max temperature.
Lastly, I would suggest using a Vape Cleaning Wipe on the glass mouthpiece before you start using it to make sure that is 100% clean before use.
How the POTV One Works
The POTV ONE is pretty easy to use, but the number of accessories might take a bit to get of getting used to for newbie vape users.
Let’s take a look at what a sample session might look like:
- To use the ONE Vaporizer, just remove the magnetic slider mouthpiece and fill the titanium chamber with about 0.1g of medium ground cannabis.
- Pressing the button three times will power up the Vape One and begin automatic heating
- Once the Vape ONE is heated up to your desired temperature, it will vibrate to let you know it’s ready for a rip.
Obviously, the up and down buttons also will let you choose your precise temperature.
- Using the POTV One Vaporizer isn’t the hardest of small vapes to use, but it might take a few sessions to fully get the hang of it.
POTV One Dry Herb Dosing Capsule
Included in your kit is one stainless steel dosing capsule for dry herbs. It uses a clip-on lid design and has tons of airholes to ensure that it doesn’t restrict airflow.
Overall, it’s a nice little inclusion in the kit and can be used to help keep your chamber clean from loose herbs that would otherwise need brushing out.
You’ll also be able to purchase more separately to make chamber reloading easier beginning at $15 for a pack of four.
The dosing capsule takes a bit of size away from the chamber capacity to under 0.1g
POTV One Concentrate Pad
The stainless steel mesh pad is also a nice touch that will let you vape a small amount of any kind of cannabis concentrate.
Its mesh design will let your dab meltdown evenly and not cause damage by concentrates that would otherwise just melt down into the heater and cause damage.
- To use your concentrate pad, you’ll be able to use the pick tool included in your pick to load up a very small amount of concentrate onto the pad before dropping it into the oven chamber.
For concentrates, any temperature around 200C (392F) will give you decent results.
POTV One’s Temperature Settings
The POTV ONE Vaporizer gives you precision controls with a range of 160-221 degrees Celsius (320F – 430F). This is a solid temperature range for dry herbs, but it is just average for vaping concentrates. If you want to vape concentrates better in a dry herb vape, you might want to look into the AirVape Legacy Pro.
The best temperature for dry herbs with the Vape ONE is going to be right around the 175C – 200C range (347F – 392F).
Anything much higher than 200 degrees (392F), and you might find that your vapor is starting to get harsh because the glass mouthpiece sits right above the bowl with very little room for cooling.
One’s Heating System and Chamber
The Planet of the Vape ONE Vaporizer uses a hybrid heating system, with a combination of both conduction and convection.
The isolated airpath of the Vape ONE is separated from all electronic components, which makes a big difference as far as vapor quality and draw resistance.
POTV One air intake
The heater is made from stainless steel, the bowl is made from high-quality titanium, and the device also features a mouthpiece made from glass. The Planet of the Vapes ONE only holds about .15 grams of dry herb, which isn’t big compared to other portable vaporizers on the market today.
If you’re looking for something heftier with a larger chamber size, maybe check out the Mighty Plus. You won’t be as discreet with the Mighty, but you will be able to pack close to 0.3 grams in its ceramic-lined chamber.
The One’s Vapor Quality
Due to its glass mouthpiece and isolated airpath, the POTV ONE performs quite well in the vapor quality department, especially for its affordable mid-range price point.
In my experience, the POTV One had a decent combination of flavor and cloud production. There is a bit of a draw restriction that I didn’t mind, and I’ll have to agree with other online reviews that the POTV One works best with cigar-style puffs. While you can still do long and slow inhales for huge clouds, short puffs were the most satisfying way to hit the One.
The cloud production is good, but not great with the POTV ONE when you using dry herb
The flavor and production of the POTV ONE when it comes to concentrates is below average, so this won’t be the device for you if you are looking for a concentrate vaporizer. Also, if you’re a user of small vapes who loves lung-busting clouds, you will probably want to look elsewhere.
How is the POTV One THC Extraction?
Overall, the POTV One’s extraction style is quite slow. The session timer is set to four minutes and as I’ve said the higher temperatures can be harsh, so most people will be using a temperature below 190°C / 374°F. At that temperature, you’ll be able to get at least three sessions before your dry herb has turned a darker brown and stops producing vapor. In other words, this definitely isn’t a one-hitter like the DynaVap, it’s a slow sessions vaporizer.
POTV One ABV after two 4-minute sessions
POTV One’s Battery Life
The ONE from Planet Vapes uses an internal 1600 mAh battery that lasts about 30 to 45 minutes per charge or about 3-4 sessions. When the One is charging, it will show a charging icon, and once all of the bars are filled and the screen turns off, it means that your device is done charging. From dead, it will take about 90 minutes to get back to full.
This is decent battery life for such a compact device, but there are many portable vapes out there that will last a lot longer. One of those vapes is the Arizer Air MAX, which manages to fit a swappable 5000 mAh battery into its still portable frame.
One of the knocks on the POTV One is the lack of a swappable battery compared to the other top budget dry herb vape, the XMAX V3 Pro. Even though they share a similar battery life, you’ll be able to use a spare 18650 battery in the V3 Pro if you ever run out of juice on the go.
POTV ONE Manufacturing Quality
As previously mentioned, the ONE from Planet of the Vapes is durable and built with high-quality materials.
It boasts a heater made out of stainless steel, a bowl made out of high-quality titanium, and a mouthpiece made from glass. The ONE definitely feels like it has some weight to it, despite its small and compact size It also features a bright OLED display that is easy to read.
While the original POTV One featured a triangular shape of the top of the Vape One, the new version now features an upgraded grooved mouthpiece which is really easy on the eyes and will also be compatible with their other model, the POTV XMAX V3 Pro.
Portability & Discreteness
The Planet Vapes ONE portable vaporizer is highly compact and will fit into most pockets.
It is one of the most portable vapes for sale right now. You can easily conceal this device in the palm of your hand, and it doesn’t produce super thick clouds which adds to the discreteness.
The only knock is that it is much heavier compared to some of the best portable dry herb vaporizers. It comes in at close to a third of a pound, so if you have a loose pocket, you can expect it to be flopping around while you walk. For that reason, you might want to pick up the vape carrying case which will also let you carry all of the POTV One accessories with yourself on the go.
How to Clean The POTV One
Because the Vape One from Planet of the Vapes is so compact, you won’t need to clean it very often. After every session, you can use the included pick tool in the kit to knock out the chamber.
After that, you might also have to use a cleaning brush to get rid of any remaining flower stuck to the bowl or filter screen.
Once a month or so, you’ll be able to use Vape Cleaning Sticks in the chamber and on the mouthpiece screen to remove any resin stuck to the oven.
You’ll also be able Orange Chronic on any of the glass mouthpieces, but that’s not really necessary unless you take it out on, let’s say, a camping trip and it gets really grimy.
- To clean the dosing capsule and mesh pad, you’ll be able to soak them in isopropyl for 20 minutes before giving them a scrub with the included brush and hot water rinse off
POTV One Mouthpiece Reviews
Stock Mouthpiece
The stock POTV is a ribbed and short black glass mouthpiece. It uses jagged edges in its vapor path which adds a bit of air turbulence, but because it’s so short, there isn’t much added cooling to your vapor. Overall, it’s a great upgrade from the original POTV model’s awkward plastic mouthpiece.
POTV One Curved Mini Bubbler
This curved mini bubbler for the POTV One was surprisingly a lot of fun. I found that using more water worked better than using less while testing it. The more water added more draw resistance, but it also cooled the vapor down more and allowed for bigger inhales at higher temperatures. I would suggest this add-on if you prefer using higher temperatures and bigger clouds.
POTV ONE Curved Glass Mouthpiece
I found this mouthpiece to have slightly better airflow than the stock glass mouthpiece because it isn’t dimpled. It’s also easier to inhale from since it’s angled towards you, but on the downside, it’s $14 to upgrade to it, so I wouldn’t really recommend it.
POTV One Mini Bubbler
The mini bubbler’s percolator and design is the exact same as the curved tip bubbler, with only the mouthpiece top being different. It just comes down to the style of mouthpiece that you prefer as their performance is the same. Personally, I prefer the curved one as it’s more ergonomic.
POTV One Water Pipe Adapter
With 10, 14, and 18mm frosted glass tips, this is a high-quality bong adapter. Just make sure that your POTV One is fully secure before you take your hand off it to make sure that it doesn’t fall off. Our personal recommendation would be the Globe Whip Bubbler for the most amount of cooling possible. It will let you take bigger inhales on higher temperatures, and is a great setup for connoisseurs.
POTV One Pros
- Cost Effective
- Four Mouthpiece Upgrades Available
- Big & Bright OLED Screen
- Fast Heat-Up Time
- Isolated Vapor Path
POTV One Cons
- Outdated Micro-USB Charging
- No On-Demand Mode
- Proprietary Battery
- Limited Battery Life
POTV One Tips and Tricks
- Be sure not to pack the bowl too tightly, or you run the risk of restricting airflow and reducing performance.
- Holding the power button and up arrow will flip the screen
- Holding the power button and down arrow will swap between Fahrenheit and Celsius
- The POTV One works best with cigar puff-style inhales
POTV One Reputation
The POTV One has a good reputation online, and Planet of the Vapes has a good reputation themselves by offering a hassle free warranty process.
Most commonly, you will see the POTV One often being recommended as a good introductory vape alongside the XMAX V3 Pro – You can read more about that unit in our XMAX V3 Pro Review or in our XMAX V3 Pro vs. POTV One Review.
POTV One Review Conclusion
The POTV 1 from Planet Vapes is affordable, compact, portable, powerful, and performs well as far as draw resistance and vapor quality. Its precision controls, haptic feedback, auto-shutoff features as well as its various accessories add quite a bit of value to a mid-range device.
- However, its biggest drawback is its limited battery life without a swappable battery and micro-USB charging, which is behind in the times.

180C / 356°F is a good temperature for that POTV that will give you a good combination of terpene taste and cloud production.
The POTV One is making me cough, is that normal?
If you’re coughing after using your POTV One, try lowering the temperature or adding water filtration which will make it much easier on your throat during inhales.
Think I’m going to pick one up with its updates now.
I have had mine about 3 months amd i really like it. Only drawback would be battery life.
This is the one!!! Good little vape very small hits hard like its really really small much smaller than I thought from pictures. It’s perfect to take with me anywhere and I really like it. I recommend the water pipe adapter because it makes the hits through water very heavy and smooth still. If I would change one thing I think it would be nice to be bigger and have a better battery life though.
Accidentally broke my first one after using it three times so I bought a second because I really liked it. Glad I got it again because it has been a very good vape for a good price. Its really small and hits really hard. The water adapter is definitely my favorite I use a small baby bong which is perfect for it.
Pros: Very small, stealthy, hits hard, good flavor, glass is nice, water pipe is great, good temperature control, uses same charger as my phone
Cons: battery is quite small, bowl is also a bit small
I think if you’re not a heavy weed smoker than you’ll be happy with this vapes. I only vape every few days and just 1 bowl is enough for me to get pretty high. If I would make an improvement though I would definitely use a bigger battery in the next one because this one dies after just like 5 sessions
Better than I thought it’s a really small vape. I think its similar to the fury 2 vaporizer but that doesn’t mean its bad at all! I really like the size and the glass mouthpiece is perfect and it works really well overall. I’d definitely say though the battery life is eh but all the other aspects make up for it!
Can’t rly think of a better vape for the size. I had other vaporizers and actually like this one more than my DaVinci IQ since the flavor seems quite a bit better and it still hits quite nice. If youre looking for a good small weed vape then I think this one is the ticket.
I got this and a very similar vape (the Utillian 620) and figured I’d share my feedback. I think it’s a pretty solid device held back by only its battery life and bowl size. The performance is right in my eyes and only marginally beaten out by the 620. The battery life though on the 620 is much better so if you smoke often then I think you’ll be better served by that vape.
Hits hard, really small, easy to use, I like it!
I’m new to weed so I had a hard time figuring out how to use the POTV One vape at first. I watched some guides and Reddit tips and now I’ve pretty well gotten in nasiled. One tip is to definitely use an herb grinder, I think that was my biggest mistake. Wish it had a little better battery life tho. Good value good price
