Hybrid Heated Chamber

The Arizer SE uses a steel heating element like other Arizer Air and Solo models.

The Arizer Air SE uses a stainless steel oven with four holes along its exterior. Underneath the stainless steel oven is a ceramic heating element that heats the air that passes through the chamber for convection heating. After a few minutes, the oven itself will also heat up, leading to some conduction THC extraction as well, making the SE hybrid heated.

With its 70mm glass mouthpiece/chamber, you’ll be able to load about 0.25g into the oven, which will slowly roast over the course of the ten-minute session timer.

  • I was overall pretty happy with the Arizer Air SE’s overall oven strength, despite the slower heat-up time than on the Solo 2 or Air Max models, coming in at around 75 seconds to reach the highest temperature

Vapor Quality Review

In terms of vapor quality, surprisingly, it was a very chill experience and comparable to the Arizer Solo 2 style of extraction. While it has a slower extraction speed than the Arizer Air Max, it still does a decent job of putting out vapor. I’d recommend to take longer inhales of five seconds or more for the most efficiency and effective hits.

  • One thing I found was that the bowl needed a bit of ‘recharge time’ of around 5-10 seconds after a big draw, meaning the bowl needed time to recoup before producing more vapor.

In terms of ABV, you can expect to get a nice roast from just about every heat setting at the end of your session.

For a more even roasting experience, you can utilize temperature stepping by beginning at the lowest temperature and raising it every minute or two. This will give you better flavor for longer, while also getting as much THC as possible from the herb at the end of the session.

My only real knock would be that the 70mm glass mouthpiece got a little hot throughout the 10-minute session.

Can the Arizer Air SE use concentrates?

Like the other Arizer portable vaporizers, the SE is made to only be used with flowers.

You can attempt the sandwich method by putting a small amount of hash in between two wedges of flower, but overall it won’t give you the best results and you’ll be better off just sticking to the flower instead of risking concentrates melting down into the heating element and causing damage.

If you do want a dry herb vape under $100 that can use concentrates, we suggest checking out the XMAX V3 Pro as it included a wax cup in its kit

Portability & Discreetness Review

The Arizer SE is all about that portability life & I was quite surprised by how small the box was at just 5.7in 3.7in x 1.5in

The one thing I found hilarious was that the charging cable is six feet long, which was incredibly overkill and counterintuitive to the rest of the kit, which focused on downsizing. I had a hard time stuffing it back into the original cardboard packaging, so overall, I’d recommend that you pick up a good vape case that will let you bring everything with yourself on the go more easily.

Micro-USB charging & 6-foot cable

Because the mouthpiece is only 70mm, it is a very portable option to bring with yourself on the go, but you should know that the beep when the SE turns on or off is a bit loud and you won’t be able to disable it.

  • With the included 70mm stem attached, the SE comes out to about 6.5 inches tall, which might be a little difficult to carry around in pockets, so I would just keep it in your bag until it’s time for your session.

Six Session Battery Life

I couldn’t quite tell the mAh of the 18650 battery that it uses, but I was able to get about six sessions from a full charge, which puts it a bit above average compared to the other budget vaporizers.

The good thing is that you’ll be able to pick up a spare 18650 battery to help make sure that you don’t run out of juice on the go. However, on the downside, the battery door is a bit finicky. You’ll have to push down from both the top and bottom of the lid using two hands, which isn’t clear in the owner’s manual.

Battery door and spare 18650 battery

When you turn the Air SE on, it will flash once to indicate the battery charge level, Green 100%, Pink 70%, Orange 40%, and red 10%.

When it flashes red as it turns on, it means it doesn’t have enough juice for a session and you’ll have to charge it up. It took over two hours of charging from dead, and the owner’s manual states that it won’t charge through a computer’s USB.

Arizer Air SE Build Quality

The build quality is bottom of the barrel as instead of a metal body like other Arizer’s, it uses a plastic body.

Having a swappable battery is always nice, but it was a little annoying that the charging was micro-USB instead of USB-C.

A new feature to the SE though is that you’ll be able to remove the plastic cover over the oven for easier access for cleaning, which I thought was pretty neat.

For the user interface, they’ve gone with a design similar to the original Air model, by only using colors and up and down arrows, unlike the Air 2 and Air Max which used an OLED screen. It’s not the worst, and it’s easy to understand the pre-sets – I just wish you could turn the beeping noise off.

How to Use the Arizer SE?

To get your Arizer SE started out of the box, the first thing you’ll have to do is open the battery door and pull out the battery protector slip. After that, charge it to full and run a sanitation burn-off without anything in the chamber to get rid of anything left in the chamber from manufacturing.

To turn the SE on, all you’ll have to do is press and hold the up and down arrows at the same time. From there, the power icon will begin flashing after you select your pre-set temperature with the up and down arrows.

The pre-set temperatures are as follows:

  • Blue – 356°F / 180°C
  • Pink – 374°F / 190°C
  • Green – 392°F / 200°C
  • Yellow – 401°F / 205°C
  • Red – 410°F / 210°C

Once the flashing light turns solid, it’ll be ready to hit. After the ten-minute session ends or you press and hold both buttons again, the vape will turn off with a beep notification.

Tips and Tricks

  • Slowly raise the temperature throughout your session for the most efficient extraction
  • Use a 110mm Solo 2 Stem for more cooling of your vapor and glass
  • Buy a spare 18650 battery to carry around charged as a backup
  • You can loosen the glass stem a bit for more of a convection heating extraction style

How to maintain the glass and oven

The SE is extremely easy to clean as you’ll be able to clean everything with Vape Cleaning Sticks.

For the steel oven, just wait a few minutes after your session is done after you’ve already knocked the flower out of the bowl, and then wipe and resin that you see sticking to the walls.

When your glass stem begins to get resin buildups that aren’t coming off easily, you’ll be able to soak it in Orange Chronic Glass Cleaner for an hour before hot water rinse off. This should get rid of most of your buildups, but if they’re still there, you can just repeat the process.

Choice of Colors

You’ll be able to choose solid white or see through blue when you get your SE. With the blue, it’s kind of a throwback to the old school Gameboy and Xbox controllers, so if you feel like going old school, then blue might be for you. The white keeps it more classy in my opinion though, and is the one I chose to use for my review.

We are looking to give away our blue model, so let us know if you’re interested in the comments!

Community Consensus

For the most part, the SE is aimed at people who are looking for a replacement for their discontinued Arizer Air 2 and OG Arizer Air models. It’s less expensive than the other Arizer portables, but the performance is just about the same, so it’s been getting a lot of props online for being able to perform above its low price tag.

Arizer Air SE Warranty

Excluding the glass and battery on your SE, you’ll have a one-year manufacturer’s warranty from Arizer.

Pros

  • Good overall value to the kit
  • Consistent vapor quality
  • Pre-sets were well thought-out
  • Pass through charging
  • Compatible with existing Arizer glass stems

Cons

  • Micro-USB charging
  • Slow extraction style
  • Battery door difficult to open
  • Plastic body

Who’s the Arizer Air SE best for?

The Arizer Air SE is a great buy for anyone looking to repurchase a model similar to the original Arizer Air or Arizer Air 2. There are zero new upgrades to the base Arizer model, but instead cost-cutting efforts like we saw on the DaVinci IQC compared to the older DaVinci IQ2 model.

Overall, I would suggest that people just go for the Solo 2 over the SE as it offers much better battery life, session customization, and a better kit for not too much more money. While I was surprised at the SE’s solid performance, the Solo 2 just has a more reliable kit overall and a three-hour battery life compared to the one on the SE.

Final Thoughts

To summarize things, the SE is a great pickup for anyone looking for an entry-level Arizer design. I think that it’s a great thing to pick up from a local smoke shop if you’re needing a backup vaporizer for on the road – At the end of the day, it’s just a slightly modified OG Arizer Air.

FAQs

What glass comes with the Arizer SE kit?

The Arizer SE comes with a stock 70mm straight glass mouthpiece.

How does the Arizer SE compare to the Arizer Air MAX?

I found that the Air MAX has the more powerful oven which means less downtime between back-to-back hits. Although their heat-up times are both one minute, the Air Max produces stronger vapor after reaching temperature.

How come my Arizer Air SE isn’t charging?

The Arizer Air SE must use a wall charger to charge as computer USB’s won’t be powerful enough to charge it.

What is the chamber capacity of the Arizer Air SE?

The Arizer Air SE will be able to fit about 0.25g into the glass chamber.

How do I microdose on the Arizer Air SE?

To microdose on the Arizer Air SE, just load the chamber as normal and take a few tokes as needed before turning it off. Unlike smoking, you can always come back to the chamber and use it later.
