Airvape has settled into the Portable Vaporizer category with their new flagship AirVape Legacy Pro Vaporizer. So much so that people have begun comparing it to the tried and true Mighty+ Vaporizer.

As many people don’t even own either device, we decided that we should put each to the test to help you decide which you should upgrade to.

At face value, would you want the on-demand heating of the Airvape Legacy Pro, or the wide variety of Mighty Vape Accessories.

Let’s deep dive into this vape comparison!

Kit Comparison

Each kit is quite comparable, with the main exception being the swappable 3200mAh Legacy Pro Battery. Unboxing the Legacy Pro is a more fun experience though since you can tell they put some real thought and effort into making the kit as evidenced by the optical illusion and variety of small boxes to open.

Ease of Use Comparison

Both chambers are super easy to access, and each vaporizer is also easy to use thanks to their simple designs of a power button and an up and down arrow.

The only difference being the adjustable session style of the ALP along with the on-demand and session heating modes you can alternate between. With on-demand heating, the heat will only activate when you’re holding the power button down.

As well, the Legacy Pro has an ‘door-opening’ style that will let you access the chamber more easily with the only real complaint being that without a funnel you might be getting your ground cannabis everywhere. After your session is done, there is a pick tool by the battery that you can use to knock out the hockey puck of cooked herb that tends to happen.

  • Three clicks gets the Legacy Pro heated up, and from there you adjust the temperature with the up and down arrows, as well you’ll be able to adjust the session timer between 3, 5, and 7 minutes, and cycle between on-demand heating with by pressing both arrows at the same time – Plus having to hold the power button in on-demand heating mode.
  • Haptic feedback will let you know when to inhale

Is the Legacy Pro a mighty killer?

Not quite! But it’s very close.

If you were to hand each portable vaporizer to a first-time vaper, they would tell you that they perform almost the same. Their heating times and hybrid chambers work very similarly with the only main difference being that the AirVape has a convection airpath running through the body of the vape through glass, while the Mighty+ uses spirals of plastic hidden in the middle portion of the vaporizer.

There are a few things worth mentioning for this comparison, though.

The Legacy Pro has amazing airflow without any noticeable draw resistance no matter how you load the chamber.

The Legacy Pro’s heating system is also incredibly efficient and will be able to pump out incredible clouds at a very lower temperature. With the Legacy Pro, you can hit temperatures in as little as 10 seconds compared to the Mighty’s 30 seconds. This is what allows for the on-demand heating mode making microdosing or getting a few big hits in much quicker.

One of the drawbacks of the Legacy Pro is that the heat distribution can be a bit inconsistent in the chamber, this means that you’ll need stirring to ensure the even cooking of your herb. Because of this strong conduction, you also risk combusting your weed and getting a burnt flavor at a much lower temperature compared to the Mighty+.

For example, the Mighty+ max temperature of 410 Fahrenheit will give you a golden brown color of your ABV, while with the Legacy Pro at that temperature, you’re almost certain to combust and burn the chamber. But, that’s why the Legacy Pro is much better for faster session styles.

The max temperature on the ALP is 441F, but this should be reserved for concentrate use only using the included mesh pad insert. Because of how hot the oven runs, I personally only use the Legacy Pro with the temperature set down to 340F / 165C range, otherwise, it’s a bit harsh on the throat.

Customization Options

As far as customization and available accessories go, the Mighty+ is the clear winner.

While there is an available bong adapter for the ALP, it has to slide onto the wonky mouthpiece which is fitted with rubber gaskets. The only problem is that the mouthpiece is loose on its own, and either stacking a bubbler above it or having the ALP sit on a globe whip bubbler is going to make your overall setup prone to falling off.

Our solution was to just use the DynaVap Fat Mouthpiece with a globe bong and having to hold it upright the whole time. While there will be some extra vapor cooling, I don’t think there’s a viable solution yet that I’d recommend.

The Mighty+ Bong Adapter is easier to Use

With the Mighty+ and Crafty+ for that matter, the possibilities are damn-near endless on the number of setups you’ll be able to run through all of the glass options and accessories.

Whether that be the Mighty+ Stand, Mighty Loading Funnel, or Mighty Dosing Capsules, there are tons of official and third-party upgrades available that will let you adjust how to want your sessions.

Personally, I own the Mighty+ Short Bubbler as it allows for extra cooling in a portable glass piece. Compared to the ALP which is still in its infancy, the Mighty+ is still bounds and leaps ahead in terms of session customization.

Which is easier to clean?

For this category, the ALP is the winner, by a long shot. Unfortunately with the Mighty+, the mouthpiece requires constant maintenance to be performing its best. It’s full of nooks and crannies that help with vapor cooling but are difficult to clean with vape cleaning sticks alone.

Because of the three O-Rings on it as well, it’s not recommended that you simply soak the whole thing in isopropyl alcohol as this risks damaging the unit. Some people use the Zeus Purify Cleaning Bundle due to the alcohol-free solution, it simply won’t do as good of a job as wiping down all of the nooks and crannies individually.

zeus purify and mighty + mouthpiece

For the Legacy Pro, there is no such problem, and much of the airpath is easily accessible or removable for soaking in isopropyl alcohol. Apart from getting some herb spilled while you’re loading the bowl-style chamber, cleaning is a super easy process with the ALP.

Mighty+ vs AirVape Legacy Pro Portability

In terms of portability, each vaporizer is about the same size with the Legacy Pro being the much more bulky option. Because of the bulky design of the ALP, it’s going to be much more awkward in a pocket if it’s loose since it will be swinging everywhere.

That’s not to say that the Mighty+ is portable by any means!

Each vape should definitely be equipped with a vape case to help you bring them and their accessories with you on the go.

The dosing capsules are also a huge boost to portability that can help you swap out your chamber and keep it cleaner for longer. AirVape has stated that there were dosing capsules on the way, so hopefully, they’ll also be on the market in 2023 to help with portability.

Conclusion

To wrap this comparison up, the ALP has been an overall step in the right direction for vaporizers in general.

The Legacy Pro has all of the great features that 4th generation vaporizers need to bring the best key features into one device. It’s almost there but comes up short in a few places like its mouthpiece and lack of good accessories. Regardless, it’s not far behind the Mighty+ for the best portable vaporizer, and both have  definitely set a standard for others to imitate in the years ahead.

I hope you enjoyed reading and, as always, to health and high times!
