Pulsar APX Wax Review
The Pulsar APX wax vaporizer is very compact, but it delivers some serious power. It’s only 3.5 inches tall, but don’t let its height fool you. Good things sometimes do come in small packages and that sentiment holds true with this small but mighty device. Keep reading our Pulsar APX wax vaporizer review for all the details!

- Highly Portable
- Great Battery Life
How it Works and Ease of Use
The Pulsar APX wax vaporizer is very easy to use. Just take off the glass mouthpiece to expose the heating chamber and add your concentrates onto the coils. If you have concentrates that are stickier, the manufacturer recommends that you let the device heat up for a few seconds to make it easier to load.
Once it’s loaded up, hit the power button five times and the unit will turn on, indicated by LED lights. When it’s on, press the button to fire up the heating element. When it’s ready to rip, the logo light will go from red to green. After that, keep holding the power button and inhale. When you’re finished drawing in, release the button and clear the rest of the vapor that remains. This is a very straightforward and easy to use device.
Pulsar APX Temperature Settings
There are no temperature settings on the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer, as it is a fixed wattage device. The temperature gradually increases as you hold the power button, and then you release the button when you are satisfied. Fixed wattage devices can be good for newbies who might get confused with what temperature setting to use, who might not know the best wattage to vape wax. But experienced consumers might want a device that has some flexibility, like the KandyPens Prism or Prism Plus.
Pulsar APX Heating System and Chamber
The heating element on the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer uses three quartz coils. This is different than a lot of other vaporizers that use quartz coils because usually we only see two coils. The three coil setup is a big part of the reason why this unit delivers such big hits. The unit heats up almost instantly, with a maximum heat-up time of about 5-10 seconds.
APX Wax Vapor Quality
The vapor quality on the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer isn’t exceptional, because it was designed mostly for consumers who want quick sessions and big hits. The flavor isn’t bad because of the quartz coils, but if you are a consumer who likes flavor-rich hits, you will want to check out a unit like the Dr. Dabber Boost.
Pulsar APX Battery Life
The battery life on this unit is very solid, especially considering how compact and lightweight it is. The 1100mAh lithium-ion battery lasts some consumers up to two full days of moderate vaping before needing to charge back up. Charging the unit takes about 2-3 hours total.
Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality
The APX wax vaporizer is made out of plastic, but it’s not cheap plastic. The unit is pretty durable and feels nice when you hold it. The compact unit can probably withstand a drop or two, but the glass mouthpiece might not. Overall, it’s not a bad looking device, especially for the price of it. But it is a bit awkwardly designed, despite how small it is. We think a device like the Utillian 5 looks a little bit better than the APX Wax vaporizer.
Portability and Discreteness
At only 3.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide, the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer is highly portable and compact. There will be no issues when it comes to fitting this little device in your pocket or hand. The discreteness isn’t exactly there, due to the fact that the hits that you get from this unit can be massive. You will want to look towards a device with more low-key hits if vaping discreetly is important to you.
Pulsar APX Accessories
With the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer, you get the device itself, a dab tool, a USB charger, and an instruction manual. Not a ton of accessories come with this device, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The unit doesn’t come with a carrying case, so if you need one, check out our water and wear-resistant carrying case from Tools420.
How to Clean the APX Wax
Maintaining and keeping the Pulsar APX wax vaporizer clean is just as simple and straightforward as it is to operate. Just clean the quartz coils with a q-tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol and do the same with the mouthpiece to remove debris and bacteria. Check out our vaporizer cleaning sticks from Tools420 if you’re tired of dipping your q-tips in isopropyl alcohol and want something quicker and easier.
Overall, this is a solid device and a good choice for vape consumers who love thick, milky rips. It has a good battery life and decent build quality as well. However, if you’re looking for a wax pen that gives you a better flavor that you can sip on instead of quick, big rips, check out a unit like the KandyPens Prism Plus.
