The Toqi 510 Vaporizer was designed in Toronto and stood out when it launched for combining Qi wireless charging, USB-C fast charging, variable voltage, and a premium aluminum design in a 510-thread battery.

Update: TOQi has since announced that it is winding down its hardware operations, and Tools420 does not currently carry the Toqi 510. If you’re looking for a current alternative with the same premium, design-focused feel, the CCell Fino is one of the closest options I’d consider, with multiple voltage settings, USB-C charging, and a portable charging dock.

When it launched, the Toqi was trying to push 510-thread batteries beyond the basic pen-style format by focusing heavily on charging technology, build quality, and accessories.

With three voltage settings, button activation, wireless charging, and a distinctive design, the Toqi had plenty going for it. But with newer 510 batteries now offering displays, precise voltage adjustment, hidden cartridges, and larger batteries, does the Toqi still hold up? Let’s take a closer look.

510-Thread Voltage Control

The Toqi uses a standard threaded 510 connection rather than a magnetic cartridge adapter. Its three voltage settings are:

1. 2.6V – Cyan / Light Blue: Lower voltage for better flavor and longer draws
2. 3.2V – Blue: Balanced vapor and flavor
3. 3.6V – Purple: Higher power for denser vapor

Toqi originally recommended cartridges such as TH2 and M6T models for best performance. If you’re new to cannabis cartridges, make sure you purchase them from legal and regulated sources.

When a compatible cartridge is properly screwed into the connection, the device flashes green twice.

Unlike draw-activated batteries, the Toqi uses button activation. This gives you more control over the hit and lets you manually warm thicker oils before inhaling.

If you want a current button-activated alternative with much finer voltage control, the Tronian Rhotron Pro is worth comparing. It lets you adjust voltage from 1.6V to 4.2V in 0.1V increments and includes an OLED display and USB-C charging.

Toqi 510 Battery Vapor Quality

I’m used to many draw-activated 510 batteries running around 3.8V, so I was initially skeptical about the Toqi’s lower voltage range.

I started with the medium 3.2V setting and was surprised by how strong the vapor was while still keeping good flavor from my cartridge. I tried the higher 3.6V setting a few times, but it was harsher than I prefer.

I mainly stayed at 2.6V because it produced flavorful vapor and let me take longer draws without overheating the cartridge. Users who prioritize bigger clouds will probably prefer the higher setting, while flavor-focused users should start low.

Toqi 510 Portability

The Toqi is slightly larger than many basic 510 batteries, but its slim shape still makes it easy to carry. Without a cartridge attached, it measures roughly 98mm x 30mm x 10.45mm and weighs around 35 grams.

The main portability drawback is that the cartridge sits completely exposed on top of the battery. That makes it less discreet and leaves the cartridge more vulnerable than batteries with recessed or enclosed designs.

If hiding the cartridge is more important than having the Toqi’s slim shape, the CCell Silo is more discreet because more of the cartridge sits inside the battery body.

Wax-Compatible 510 Battery

Toqi also sold a separate 510 wax cartridge that allowed the battery to vaporize small amounts of concentrate in addition to standard oil cartridges.

The wax cartridge screwed directly into the 510 connection and used a small quartz heating element. It also included an integrated loading tool in the mouthpiece, letting you preload a small dab before attaching it to the battery.

When reinstalling the mouthpiece, I found that pressing down too hard could make it more difficult to screw into place, so it’s better to use a light touch.

The small wax attachment could be useful for occasional concentrate use, but it was never going to deliver the same power or water filtration as a dedicated electric dab rig.

Toqi 510 400mAh Battery Life

The TOQi 510 uses a 400mAh lithium-ion battery. Battery life depends on voltage, cartridge resistance, and how frequently you vape, but it was enough for more than a day of normal use during my testing.

The USB-C port is located on the bottom of the battery and was one of the Toqi’s biggest advantages when it launched. A full wired charge takes around 40 minutes, with most of the battery replenished considerably sooner.

One limitation compared with newer premium designs is that the Toqi battery itself needs to be recharged directly. Something like the CCell Fino takes a different approach by combining a small cartridge battery with a larger portable charging dock that can recharge it while you’re away from an outlet.

To check the battery level, press the power button twice. The indicator flashes three times:

Toqi 510 Cartridge Holder

The one-piece aluminum cartridge holder was one of my favorite Toqi accessories. It could hold up to six cartridges upright while helping keep them organized, protected from direct sunlight, and away from dirt.

For people carrying several batteries, cartridges, and accessories today, a vape carrying case is a more flexible option.

The holder was particularly useful if you rotated between several flavors or used your own refillable 510 carts.

Toqi Wireless Charging Pad

One of the Toqi’s most distinctive features was Qi wireless charging.

To use the wireless charger, you placed the lighted section of the Toqi over the center of the charging pad with the cartridge removed. It could charge the battery without connecting a cable directly to the device.

The charging pad could also work with other Qi-compatible electronics, giving it more usefulness than a proprietary vaporizer-only charger.

Wireless charging was slower than plugging the Toqi directly into USB-C, but at the time it was a genuinely unusual feature for a 510 battery and one of the main things that separated the Toqi from basic pen-style batteries.

Manufacturing Quality

Out of the 510 batteries I tested around the time of its release, the Toqi had noticeably better manufacturing quality than many budget competitors.

The body felt good in the hand, the light strip gave the design some personality, and features like wireless charging and USB-C showed more attention to detail than the typical stick-style battery.

Its strongest appeal was always for people willing to pay more for design, charging flexibility, and overall build rather than simply buying the cheapest battery that could fire a cartridge.

How Does the Toqi Compare to Other 510 Batteries?

One of the Toqi’s advantages was having three voltage settings instead of a single fixed output.

I also preferred its threaded connection over magnetic adapters because there was no separate adapter to lose. The 400mAh battery wasn’t best-in-class, but it was enough for everyday use and charged quickly over USB-C.

Durability was another positive. I dropped my Toqi from roughly four feet onto pavement and it came away with little more than a small scratch.

That said, modern 510 batteries have caught up quickly. A smaller 510-thread battery can be easier to conceal, while newer models also offer displays, precise voltage adjustment, recessed cartridges, auto-draw, and larger battery capacities.

If the Toqi’s premium feel and unusual charging design are what appeal to you most, the CCell Fino is the current alternative I’d compare first. It keeps the design-focused approach while adding more voltage options and a detachable battery with its own charging dock.

How to Clean the Toqi 510

The Toqi doesn’t require much maintenance. The most important areas to keep clean are the 510 connection and the outside of the cartridge.

If oil or residue builds up around the threading, use a lightly dampened isopropyl cleaning swab to remove it. Make sure the connection is completely dry before installing another cartridge.

If dirt gets into the USB-C port, gently brush or blow it out rather than inserting anything sharp into the connector.

It’s also a good idea to store cartridges upright and away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.

Warranty

The Toqi 510 originally came with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty covering eligible defects that weren’t caused by misuse or accidental damage.

Since TOQi has announced that it is winding down its hardware operations, anyone considering remaining inventory should confirm current warranty and support availability with the seller before purchasing.

Final Thoughts

Looking back, the Toqi 510 was ahead of many competitors in charging and industrial design. Qi wireless charging, USB-C, variable voltage, and its distinctive aluminum construction made it unusually ambitious for a 510 battery when it launched.

The market has moved quickly, though. Newer batteries now offer features like precise voltage control, hidden cartridges, OLED or color displays, preheat modes, auto-draw, and portable charging systems at competitive prices.

The Toqi still deserves credit for helping push 510 batteries toward better charging, design, and temperature control, but it is no longer the current buying recommendation it once was.

If you want a similar premium approach today, I’d start with the CCell Fino. If precise manual voltage control is more important, the Tronian Rhotron Pro is the stronger option, while the LITL Sneaky makes more sense for users who prioritize discretion.
