Dr. Dabber Switch Review
The Dr. Dabber brand is well known for their popular, high quality units like the Dr. Dabber Boost. The Dr. Dabber Switch is a dab rig that is best used at home. It’s not an eNail, nor does it need a torch. Instead, it uses groundbreaking induction heating technology. While its induction heating is unique and impressive, this premium technology carries a premium price. Is the Switch worth the money? Read on and decide for yourself.
- Groundbreaking Induction Heating

- 25 Temperature Settings
- Long-Lasting Battery
- Dual Functionality
- Charges Up Quickly
How it Works and Ease of Use:
The Dr. Dabber Switch comes with a bit of a learning curve, especially because the unit is the first ever induction vape. The good news is that the unit comes with a very comprehensive user’s manual, meaning you won’t have to spend any time searching how-to videos on YouTube. The switch at the bottom of the device is what lets you switch from either dry herbs or concentrates.
One knock on the Switch is that there are no included screens, so you will have to be a little bit careful to not pull any material through while you’re dabbing. Also the dry herb mode on the Switch leaves a bit to be desired. You use the same induction cups that you’d use for dabbing, which isn’t exactly vaping herb at that point. There’s no combustion so there’s no smoke, but it’s not nearly as pure, smooth and delicious as you get from the concentrate mode.
The Dr. Dabber Switch has an impressive amount of temperature options – 25 settings to be exact. However, there are only five temperature settings available at any one time. The good part about that is you can decide exactly what those five temperatures are. Dry herb mode uses different temperatures than concentrate mode does.
The Switch has very wide temperature options – from about 150C all the way up to 425C. We don’t recommend going much higher than about 375C for concentrates, or about 250C for herbs. Anything higher than those temperatures will result in lung-busting rips and are likely to use up your material faster than you’d like to.
Heating System and Chamber Size:
As previously mentioned, the Dr. Dabber Switch groundbreaking induction heating technology. What this means is that the device generates magnetic fields that heat up the quartz or ceramic cups. This technology removes the need for dangerous torches and also removes the need for direct contact with the atomizer like you get with most other dab rigs or eNails. Because of this direct contact with heat, atomizers on most other rigs need to be replaced every few months, but this is not the case with the Switch. The Switch holds about your standard about of material, as you’ll find on a typical dab rig.
The vapor flavor and production from the Dr. Dabber Switch is truly some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The included carb cap adds to the level of vapor production, but few vape users take that massive of rips to even need it. There aren’t many vaporizers on the market today that can beat the vapor quality of the Switch.
Dr Dabber Switch Battery Life:
The battery on the Switch is one of the best on the market today; offering at least 75 rips on a single charge. Some users even get up to 150 rips, depending on the size of vape hits you like to take. The Switch has a fast charge up time, taking only about an hour to fully charge. If you’re using one of the standard ceramic cups, it heats up in about ten seconds. Switch the unit onto crystal mode for using it with a smooth ceramic or quartz cup, and that takes about 15 seconds to heat up. The Switch has an auto-shutoff/ cool down feature and pass-through charging as well. There really aren’t many vaporizers on the market today that have a better battery than the Dr. Dabber Switch.
Aesthetics and Manufacturing Quality:
The Switch is hefty, made from high quality glass. The induction cups are made from titanium and are coated with ceramic – white for concentrates and black for dry herbs. The smooth ceramic and quartz cups are sold separately.
The base of the Switch features a tactile satin finish. The lights on the Switch are interesting when it’s ready to be used, and might be a little bit too much for some users. The light show can be turned off, however, simply by putting the unit into stealth mode. Even though the bubbler mouthpiece and the carb cap are made out of borosilicate glass, some users have reported issues with them breaking easily. The hourglass shape of the Switch is aesthetically pleasing, but some users might prefer more streamlined designs like the Puffco Peak.
Portability and Discreetness:
The Dr. Dabber switch Vaporizer is not very portable, nor is it discreet. However, if you do need to transport the unit from one place to another, the handy carrying case makes things easier. Carrying the unit itself without the case would be rather cumbersome and awkward. If you’re looking for a device that is discreet, you’re going to want to look elsewhere.
What Comes With the Dr. Dabber Switch?
The Switch comes with the device itself, a bubbler attachment made from glass, a carb cap made from glass, a two induction cups made from ceramic, a dab wallet made from silicone, a set of tweezers, a charger for the wall outlet, and the box that makes a great carrying case.
How to Clean:
Keeping the Dr. Dabber Switch clean is easy, because of its self-cleaning mode. The self-cleaning mode is pretty effective at getting rid of any residue inside of the ceramic cups. If you’re using the other cups, you might want to check out the Zeus Purify Cleaning Kit to really give it a deep cleaning.
Summary and Comparison:
The Dr. Dabber Switch offers premium vapor quality, a brand new induction heating system, flexible temperature options and fast heating and charging. It’s not portable or discreet, there are no screens for the unit, and it’s rather expensive. Someone looking to get their feet wet when it comes to dabbing would probably be best suited looking for a 510 dab rig than spending the coin on the Switch. A cheap electric dab nail will let you enter the wonderful world of dabs without breaking the bank.
A good comparison to the Dr. Dabber Switch is the Puffco Peak. The Switch is more powerful and can produce thicker clouds and longer sessions. The Puffco Peak is more compact, portable and discreet. Choosing which one is right for you is based purely on your vape preferences.
